The World Health Organization recommends syringes that cannot be re-used and are safe designed to prevent injuries to health workers .You can make smart injection choices by using these type of injection devices when giving an injection.

Type 1 (Re-use prevention and sharps injury protection syringe)
This syringe can be used only one and helps prevent sharps injuries. Remove the cap and draw the medicine into the syringe after the injection push the small button at the end of the plunger . Which forces the needle to retract inside the barrel.
Type 2 (Re-use prevention and sharps injury protection syringe)
This syringe has re-used prevention and sharps injury protection features. After the injection push the plunger forward until you hear a click then pull back to retract the needle inside the barrel. Continue to pull applying force to break the plunger.
Type 3 (Re-use prevention syringe)
This syringe prevents re-use put the needle on the syringe after the injection continue to push the plunger forward until you hear a click.
Type 4 (Re-use prevention syringe)
This syringe can be used only once. After the injection continue to push the plunger forward you will feel a bit of resistance towards the end of the barrel. Continue until the syringe is locked.
Type 5 (Re-use prevention syringe)

Always use a syringe and needle from a new and sealed package W.H.O recommends syringes that are designed not to be re-used for all injections.
Step 4 : (Sterile vial of medication and diluent)
Always use single-use vials to avoid contamination disinfect the patients.
Step 5:(Skin cleaning)
Skin before injection using a sixty to seventy percent alcohol based the swarf.
Step 6 : (Appropriate collection of sharps)
Immediately after the injection collect the used syringes. And needles and dispose of them without any further manipulation.
Step 7 : (Appropriate waste management)
Health care and sharp waste should be managed appropriately.
After giving an injection always remember to clean your hands according to WHO 5 moments for hand hygiene. Before giving an injection consider whether medication taken.
